Sugar is one of the world’s most common ingredients in cooking, with the world estimated to consume more than half a million metric tons every single day.

So how does sugar production by country look?

Countries are listed from highest to lowest to visually show the difference along with country flag, name and production quantity. Look at the top producers in the list, the production is driven by developing countries such as Brazil and India. Earlier we also saw how Brazil in the world’s top producer of coffee as well.

In fact, just 2 countries, Brazil and India produce almost 40% of the world’s sugar.

Within the top 10, production has remained relatively flat compared to last year, with China, Thailand and India witnessing the highest year-on-year growth at 12%, 11% and 7%, respectively. Whereas EU saw a decline of 5%.
